Food for thought

One of the reasons churches in North America have trouble guiding people about money is that the church’s economy is built on consumerism. If churches see themselves as suppliers of religious goods and services and their congregants as consumers, then offerings are ‘payment.’

I have been out of church for 21 years. Jesus Christ is my Savior. But I have fallen out of Gods Light. So I went looking for him in a large church. In that Church I found the world. Each Sunday Sermon was concluded by a Cult thing by saying the same thing about tithings. One Sunday Moring they pastor was talking about Judas, I could not help but think about how Judas that church was being regarding the fundings of the church. They could have concluded the services by something like being good Christian neighbors to anyone they approach. All I know is, I went to church to find god and found the world. I am starting to find my way back to Jesus Christ and God almighty. I believe that he has something is store for me. I have been hiding from him for years. Or where those years meant to be, so I could see differently and make those aware for him. ?????

Hey Matthew - perhaps those years were meant to be - I often marveled at the fact that Jesus was lost in the temple...

I pray you find what God has for you - My family and I absolutely believe in the power of tithing and giving back. However my personal take on tithing is that it has become a diversion.

The real issue is: How do we use God’s trust fund - namely, all we have, for His glory?
